Meet Sam! Your local barista at Yonder, Queenstown.

on July 28, 2025

Can you believe we've been working alongside the crew at Yonder for 5 years!

We were over in Queenstown recently so we dropped in to Yonder and caught up with Sam over an oat flatty and a delicious sack of pancakes!

Hey Sam! Could you tell us who you are and a little bit about your role at Yonder?
I’m Sam and I’m a barista here at yonder. I’m from the uk originally but have been living in queenstown for the last year.

What's your favourite thing about living in Queenstown and working at Yonder?
One of my favourite things about queenstown is just how stunning it is. The views are honestly some of the best in the world. I also love the community here, especially at yonder. We have a bunch of regulars that come in for coffee each morning and it’s so nice to check in with the locals and see what’s happening with them. There’s also a huge global community here, there’s people from all over the world living in Queenstown so there’s such a cool mix of locals from so many different backgrounds.

What do you love about using All Good Oat Milk?
The best thing about All Good oat milk for me is the taste. Its super creamy and has a touch of sweetness that isn’t overpowering, unlike other brands that I’ve used. It’s also super easy to steam and get that nice silky texture.

In your experience, what’s one of the best pieces of advice you've received about working in hospitality?
One of our old owners, Gary, always used to tell us that hospitality is about making meaningful experiences and connections with our guests and I think that’s super important. I think the best way to do that is just to be authentically yourself. If you let your personality shine through with guests and just be natural with it, you’re gunna make people feel comfortable enough to keep coming back!

You’re stranded on a desert island — what’s your essential snack, soundtrack, and luxury?
I’m not sure if it counts as a snack, but I’d definitely want an unlimited supply of chocolate milk. Soundtrack would have to be Norman Fucking Rockwell by Lana Del Rey, I feel like that would fit the whole beachy vibe while keeping it mellow enough to reflect the whole ‘stranded’ situation. My luxury would have to be my Nintendo DS! I’ve taken it all over the world with me and it’s kept me entertained the whole time.

Winter is in full swing in the south, anything exciting planned for the rest of the year at Yonder?
Yeah we’ve got some exciting stuff coming up! Winter pride is next month and we’ve got heaps of events like drag shows and dj’s that’ll keep the vibes high! There’s also loads of apres events going on for Snow Machine in September that’ll carry the party down from the mountains into town! We’ve also got live music and DJs going every weekend throughout winter! Definitely check out our socials to stay in the loop!

We’re stoked to have been working together for 5 years! Should we do 5 more?
Yeah go on then! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Thanks Sam, catch ya for a coffee soon!
